Thompson's Meats & Deli opened February 19th 1996.
It had been a Deli previously for about 10yrs under the name "Family food and Deli". I always wanted to operate my own buissness
and this was the opportunity I was looking for. Being a meat cutter frustrated with the larger supermarket operations, I hoped
to open my own shop. The Family food and Deli was not really a butcher shop but I thought I could incorperate my ideas into
this buisness nicely.
I am no stranger to Italian
foods. Yes my name is Thompson, but my Mother was full blooded Italian. Most of the odd Imported Italian Items that
I sell today made their home in my Grandma's pantry. My grandfather Armondo DiIulio was and Italian Immigrant who came to
America when he was 24. My Grandma was actually arrested trying to cross the Canadian border with him...(She told the people
at customs he was her brother)but he couldn't speak English well enough...Anyway back to the deli Story...
Like many people in
the area I grew up with authenic Italian food. I can remember smelling homemade pasta and raviolis in my mom's kitchen every
Sunday after mass. She had the Sunday morning polka party on the radio...seems like yesterday....
Making sausage was
also a big passtime in my family and some of my present recipes stemed from these...
The day to day operations
in my shop are rather simple and I am only a phone call away for any questions you may have about cooking, sausage
making etc...The Internet part of my buisness is just starting but I hope to expand with the changing economy..Thanks for
visiting this site and have a great day!!!
